How to Access Gmail Account via web browser

If you are interested in understanding how to access Gmail directly from your browser , the first step you need to take is to start the program to surf the Net that you usually use, connect to the main Gmail page.
At this point, if you have already logged in to Google services with your account and with the browser in use, you don’t have to do anything else: you have already managed to access Gmail from the Web.
If, on the other hand, you have not yet logged in to Google services with your account, click on the Login button located in the upper right part of the page. Next, fill in the empty field Enter your email or phone number by typing your Gmail email address or the number associated with it, then click the Next button . Now type the password for your Google account by placing it in the Password box and click on the Next button .
If you’ve chosen to enable two-step verification or sign in with your phone on your Google Account (highly recommended to limit the risk of account theft), you’ll be prompted to complete a security check. If you have set up access by phone, a notification will be sent to your smartphone where you will need to tap the Yes button to allow access.
Two-step verification, on the other hand, can be of multiple types. If done over the phone , you will receive a notification on your smartphone to allow access and possibly also tap a number that will serve as an additional level of verification. If made via text message or voice call, you will receive a text message or call with a code. Then enter the code received on your mobile number and then click on Verify .
The last option is the security key , which is a random code generated by a hardware device and associated with your profile. If you want to access with this system, all you have to do is enter the numeric code in question in the space provided.
Once you have accessed the service via a web browser, you can finally start using your e-mail box. To find out in detail how Gmail works, I leave you with my guide on the subject.
How to Access Gmail Account via email client

If, on the other hand, you have downloaded one of the software included in my guide dedicated to Gmail programs or any other e-mail client and you want to know how to proceed in order to access Gmail using one of these programs, know that in most cases there is absolutely no need to do anything except to specify, during the installation and configuration phase of the software chosen to receive and send e-mails, your wish to use a Google account and then providing the relative access data .
In the event that the e-mail client you have chosen to use does not provide for this automatic procedure, you will have to manually fill in the various forms that are proposed to you by entering the following information.
- Incoming mail server (IMAP): imap.gmail.com, Port: 993, Requires SSL: yes.
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.gmail.com, Port: 465 or 587, Requires SSL: yes, Requires authentication: yes.
- Full name or display name: [your name]
- Account Name or Username: Gmail email address (e.g. name@gmail.com).
- Email address: Gmail email address (e.g. name@gmail.com).
- Password: password in Gmail.
If you need to use the POP3 protocol (not recommended, as it does not allow synchronization between multiple devices and deletes messages from the server once downloaded locally), these are the settings you need to use to access Gmail and your email client favorite.
- Incoming mail server (POP3): pop.gmail.com, Port: 995, Requires SSL: yes.
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.gmail.com, Port: 465 or 587, Requires SSL: yes, Requires authentication: yes.
- Full name or display name: [your name]
- Account Name or Username: Gmail email address (e.g. name@gmail.com).
- Email address: Gmail email address (e.g. name@gmail.com).
- Password: password in Gmail.
Do you use two – factor authentication ? In this case, you may need to generate an app password to use specifically for your email client instead of your Gmail password. You can create app passwords from here.
How to Access Gmail Account through the official app for smartphones and tablets

Instead of using a web browser, do you prefer to access Gmail from your smartphone or tablet? In this case, the first step to take is to download the appropriate Gmail app on your device. The Gmail application is available for both Android devices (often included as standard) and iOS/iPadOS devices.
If your device is Android , if you are installing or reinstalling Gmail for the first time, once downloaded and opened it will still be already set up with the Google account or accounts associated with your device. You can switch accounts simply by pressing the profile icon at the top right and tapping on the email you wish to view.
If you have an Android device without Google services, such as the latest ones from Huawei, you cannot install Gmail using the built-in store. However, you can do it through third-party applications that activate the Play Store on the latter, for example Gspace : I told you about it in detail in my guide on how to have the Play Store on Huawei.
If, on the other hand, you have an iPhone or an iPad , if you are already using a Google account on your device, you will be shown a screen where you will have to select the profile you wish to use. To do this, locate your account among those possibly present in the list, switch the relative switch to ON and then tap the Finish button located at the top left.
If, on the other hand, you are not already using a Google account on your smartphone or tablet, once the main screen of the app is displayed, select the option to add a Gmail account, then fill in the fields displayed by entering your e-mail address and password associated with it and complete any security checks as we have seen for the Web version. The procedure, even if it starts through the app, is completed on the Google Web page so the procedure is identical to that already described.
In both cases, you then consent to receiving notifications from the app by pressing the appropriate button that is shown to you on the screen and you’re done. You will be taken directly to your inbox .
To write a new email, press the pencil -shaped button located at the bottom right, to read your inbox or consult any box other than the one displayed, touch the 3 lines at the top, then touch the item that represents the section that want to view ( inbox , drafts , sent etc.). To find out in detail how to set up Gmail on all devices, I leave you to my guide on the subject.
How to Access Gmail Account through third-party apps for smartphones and tablets

As an alternative to the procedure that I have indicated to you just now, you can access Gmail from your smartphone and tablet also by using third-party email apps .
To access Gmail through third-party apps on smartphones and tablets, you obviously need to configure the service using the application settings. Generally the configuration procedure takes place automatically so after pressing the option to add a Gmail type account it is sufficient to type the e-mail address, the password and any two-factor authentication code and it is done.
In other cases, it is instead necessary to manually enter the configuration parameters for the Google home mailbox. To do this, stick to the configuration parameters that I provided you in the previous lines, when I explained how to access Gmail through email clients.
Once configured, you can access Gmail by simply tapping the icon of the email app you are using and attached to the home screen of your device.
If you have an iPhone/iPad , note that the default Mail app doesn’t support push notifications for Gmail.
How to access gmail Account without phone

If you want to log in to Gmail but don’t want to use the phone verification system , you can simply disable it by going to Gmail Home, pressing your profile icon and pressing the Manage your Google Account button . From here click on the Security item , scroll down until you find the section Signing in to Google and disable two-step verification by phone. Alternatively, just below, you will find the Methods we can verify your identity tab where you remove the verification phone number.
If, on the other hand, you want to keep it active but you don’t have your smartphone with you, you can still access Gmail. Once you have completed the first part of the login procedure (by entering your email and password), when you arrive at the security check, click on the item Try another method and use one of the options that are shown to you. Depending on how you set up your account, you may find different options. More info here.
How to access Gmail Account without verification

If you want to access Gmail without verification , the only option to do so is if you have previously disabled two-step or phone verification from your account settings. To do this, while signed in to Gmail or any other Google service, click on your profile icon in the top right.
From here select the Manage your Google Account button , then click on the Security option in the left column and finally scroll down until you find the Signing in to Google section . From here click on 2-Step Verification , enter your account password , and hit the Deactivate button , to turn it off. I remind you that this will make you more vulnerable to account theft, so only do it if you are aware of this risk.
How to log into Gmail with another account

If you’ve already logged into Gmail from one account but want to add a second one , the process is super simple and takes a handful of clicks. First log in to Gmail with your previous account, then click on your profile icon and then on the item Add another account .
Here complete the classic registration procedure by entering email, password and passing the security checks and voilĂ , you’re done! You can always switch between accounts by clicking on the profile icon and then on the email address you want to view. For more details on how to add another Gmail account, I leave you with my guide on the subject.
In case of problems

If you experience problems using Gmail coupled with your email client or a third-party app for smartphones and tablets, it is most likely because the IMAP or POP protocol is not enabled for your email account.
To fix it immediately, access Gmail via a web browser as seen in the previous lines, click on the gear wheel icon displayed in the upper right part of your email inbox and click on the item View all settings present in the menu that opens.
Then press the Forwarding and POP / IMAP item located at the top and check if the IMAP or POP protocol can be enabled for the e-mail client you have chosen to use.
If the email client or app you intend to use supports the IMAP protocol, press the item Configuration instructions in the IMAP Access: session of Forwarding and POP/IMAP of Gmail and complete the configuration by following the simple wizard that is shown to you on the screen.
If, on the other hand, the e-mail client or app you have chosen to use supports the POP protocol, instead press the item Configuration instructions in the POP Access section of Gmail Forwarding and POP/IMAP and complete the configuration following the simple wizard that is shown on the screen.
