How to activate the microphone on Meet from PC
Let’s start with the PC side. The first operation to be implemented for turn on the microphone in Meet from a computer is to allow the web browser you use to host the meeting to use your microphone and webcam. Subsequently, it will be possible to activate or deactivate both one’s own microphone and deactivate that of the participants, by pressing the appropriate buttons. How to activate the microphone on Google Meet
For activate the microphone on Google Meet, connected to the main page of the service and, if you haven’t already done so, log in with your Google account. Once this is done, press the button Participateto start the meeting, and press the icon microphone visible at the bottom, to activate and deactivate the microphone as often as you like. If, however, you do not see the option to activate/deactivate the microphone, it means that you have started a meeting choosing the mode Presentswhich allows you to share your computer screen but does not allow the use of the microphone.
If you need to make a presentation with Meet and, at the same time, have your voice heard by the participants, you can start a “normal” meeting and then activate the function Presents. To do this, access the main Meet screen, click on the buttons Start a meeting And Participate and, in the new screen that appears, select the option Submit nowbottom right.
Then select the transmission source of your interest (A Chrome tab, Your full screen And A window) and click the button Share, to start the presentation and let the participants hear your voice. I point out that if you are the organizer of the meeting, you can also deactivate the microphone of the other participants but, once this is done, only the user in question will be able to reactivate it.

If you have a Windows PCsafter starting a video conference with Meet or accessing a meeting using its invitation code, you can use the key combination Ctrl+D both to activate and deactivate the microphone, while pressing the keys Ctrl+E you can activate/deactivate the camera.
For turn on the microphone in Meet on Mac using the keyboard, however, you can use the key combination cmd+d as many times as you like, while with the key combination cmd+e you can activate/deactivate the camera used to broadcast on Meet.
How to activate the microphone on Meet from mobile
As you well know, Meet is also available as an application for Android and iPhone/iPad devices. The latter allows both to organize new meetings and to participate in video conferences organized by other users and whose access code is known.
In both cases, to be able to activate the microphone on Meet from a mobile phone (or tablet) you need to allow the app in question to use the microphone of your device. To do this, when you first start Meet, tap on the item Continues and press the button Allow (on Android) e Okay (on iPhone/iPad).
If, when you first launch the app, you have prevented Meet from using your mobile phone’s microphone, you can change this option at any time: if you have a device androidall you have to do is log in to Meet with your Google account (if you haven’t already) and tap on the icon microphone. In the screen Allow Meet to record audio?press on the entry Allow And that’s it.
If, on the other hand, you have a iPhones (or an iPad), access the Settings of iOS/iPadOS, by pressing on the icon gear wheel visible on the home screen of the device, scroll the new screen displayed downwards, press on the item meet and move the switch next to the option Microphone from OFF to ONto allow Meet to use your iPhone/iPad microphone.

During a meeting, you can mute and unmute the microphone as many times as you want, simply by pressing the icon microphone. Furthermore, if you are the organizer of the conference, you can also mute the microphone of the other participants by pressing the iconlittle man.
