How to block someone on google Meet

You have recently started using meet, the well-known Google tool dedicated to video conferencing. However, you are having difficulty using it, or rather, there are occasions when you would like to block access to the service in question, its notifications or some of its specific features, but you don’t know how to act.

How do you say? This is exactly how things are and, therefore, you would like to know how to block Meet and its most important functions? In that case don’t worry, I’m here to help you. In the next chapters of this guide of mine, in fact, I will explain how to inhibit access to the service in question and how to limit or completely disable some of its functions.

How to block someone on google Meet

If you wonder how to block Meet in the sense that you want to block access to the service on your computer or on your mobile device, you should know that there is no specific Meet function dedicated to this purpose. However, you can apply restrictions in the operating system you use, in order to prevent access to Meet.

From PC

Going more specifically, up pcwhere Meet works through a website and not a standalone program, you can use i parental controls of Windows 10 or macOS to block access to the site by some users of your computer: I explained everything in my tutorial on how to limit access to the Internet.

In the same guide you will also find how to modify a system file (the HOSTS file) of Windows and macOS to block access to specific sites, while if you want to know how to block a site in Chrome and in browsers based on the same engine (eg. edge) you can use the solutions that I pointed out to you in my tutorial dedicated to the theme.

From smartphones and tablets

With regard to smartphones And Tablet instead, you can set a PIN to access apps, including Meet, using the functions provided by Android (at least in the most recent versions) and iOS / iPadOS. Alternatively, you can use an app from parental controls (ex. Norton Family Parental Controls for Android and iOS/iPadOS) or use the feature Usage time Of iOS/iPadOS to set restrictions on the use of apps on your device. Finally, if what bothers you are the Meet notificationsyou can block notifications from the Meet app, using the menu Settings > Apps & notifications > Meet Of android or through the section Settings > Notifications > Meet Of iOS/iPadOS. How to block Meet microphone

For block the microphone in Meetor rather, to disable the feature in question during a meeting, do the following.

From PC

To mute Meet’s microphone during a meeting, all you have to do is press on themicrophone icon, in order to change it. In fact, at any time, you can reactivate or deactivate the microphone as you wish, by pressing its icon.

If, on the other hand, you are the organizer of a meeting and you want to mute a participant, press on thelittle men iconat the bottom, locate the person of your interest, press on the icon (…) and confirm deactivation of the microphone by pressing the button Mute.

From smartphones and tablets

To block your Meet microphone by acting as smartphones And Tabletinstead, press on themicrophone icon.

To mute a participant, however, press on links of the meeting, at the top, tap the icon (…) at the first name of the person of your interest and, finally, press the button Mute for two consecutive times.

How to lock screen Meet

For lock screen on Meeti.e. to fix viewing of a participant’s video, follow the instructions I am about to provide you.

From PC

If you want to pin your video on the Meet screen or that of a participant during a meeting, press on thelittle men iconso that you see the list of everyone participating in the video conference.

At this point, to highlight your video, press on thepin icon; to highlight that of a participant, instead, press on the icon (…) and then on the button Fixed on screen.

From smartphones and tablets

If you are acting through the app of Meet for smartphones or tabletsInstead, you’ll see your video automatically featured on the screen. To fix that of a participant, however, press on links of the meeting, at the top, locate the person of your interest and tap on the icon (…). Finally, press the button Fixedto show his video featured.

How to block image Meet

By default this is not possible block the image of Meet; however, as I will explain to you shortly, you can opt for a third-party solution which, usable from a PC, allows you to “freeze” the image of your video.

From PC

For to block your picture on Meet from pc“freezing” it temporarily, you must use the extension Visual Effects for Google Meetavailable for Chrome And Microsoft Edge.

However, I must warn you that this is a third-party solution not developed by Google and, therefore, installing it may pose potential privacy risks. So, use it only as long as necessary and then uninstall it.

Having said that, to get the extension in question connect to the Chrome Web Store and press the buttons add And Add Extension. At this point, start a meeting via Meet by pressing the buttons New Meeting And Start a meeting now or join a meeting via the invite links that was shared with you.

Now, to freeze your image, press on left bar that will be shown to you and, among the effects of the extension, click on the button Freeze, to apply it. In doing so your image will be “frozen”, until you press the button again Freezeto disable the feature in question.

From smartphones and tablets

Acting through the Meet app for smartphones and tablets, it is not possible to block the image, given that integration with third-party extensions is not currently supported on mobile devices.

How to block Meet chats

For block the chat of Meet, i.e. to highlight the message box during a video conference, you can proceed from a PC and from smartphones and tablets. Below you will find explained how to do this.

From PC

During a Meet meeting started by pcto highlight the chat, press on thecartoon icon located in the bottom bar, in order to activate the chat and see the messages in real time.

From smartphones and tablets

From smartphones and tablets to see the chat superimposed on Meet, press the icon (…) located at the bottom, then tap on the item Messages in the callin order to activate the chat.

How to block Meet access

Does a participant annoy you during a meeting? Even if it’s not possible block access on Meet, nothing prevents you from removing the person in question from the video conference. Below you will find how to proceed.

From PC

During the meeting started on Meet by pcpress onlittle men icon, to see the list of participants. If someone annoys you, click on the icon (…) for their name and then click on the button Remove from meetingto remove him from the video conference.

From smartphones and tablets

To remove a meeting participant from the Meet app for smartphones and tablets, press on links of the meeting at the top, locate the person of your interest and press the icon (…). Finally, tap the button Remove twice consecutively, to confirm the operation.

How to block Meet links

you wonder how to block a meet link, why do you want to block access to the meeting to a user? It is not possible to do this; however, you can use an alternative method to invite someone to join a video conference so that a banned participant can never return. I’ll explain how to do it in the next chapters.

From PC

To invite someone to join a Meet meeting from pc without sharing the link of the same, press on thelittle men icon and then on the button Add People. Once this is done, type theemail address of the user to invite and, finally, press the button Send email.

From smartphones and tablets

To invite someone to a meeting using the Meet app for smartphones/tabletswithout having to share the link of the same, tap on the meeting link located at the top and then press the button Share information to participate.

At this point, send the invitation in the messaging app of your interest, to invite a person to join the meeting you have started.
