How to recover hotmail password
Storing your passwords somewhere safe is important, I’ve told you that over and over here on my blog. But you never listened to me and so now you find yourself unable to log into your Hotmail account because you can’t remember your password. Don’t worry: I’m here now and I’ll explain right away how to recover hotmail passwordin order for you to regain possession of your account.
Before you can get alarmed and think about who knows what, I want to let you know right away that it’s not a complex operation, it should take just a few minutes to complete it. Furthermore, you must know that the procedures that I am about to illustrate to you in the next chapters concern both Hotmail, Live and Outlook e-mail. So keep this thing in mind.

How to recover forgotten Hotmail password
You have several possibilities for recover your Hotmail account password, but in the meantime let’s see the simplest method to be able to find it. If you’ve consented to having your credentials typed as you browse the web saved, your Hotmail account password is most likely in your browser’s encrypted database. The latter therefore is nothing but a password manager which stores your web services passwords.
Having said that, what you need to do in general is open the web browser on your PC (or smartphone / tablet) and access the saved credentials section to find out the password associated with your Hotmail account. The procedure that I am about to describe to you is also valid in case you want to recover hotmail password via mobile.
To perform this operation, therefore, connected to the official web page of the Microsoft mail services and press the key Log in up. Once this is done, in the appropriate text field that is shown to you, type yours email address or the telephone number or theSkype ID associated with your Microsoft account.
Now, press the button After you to display the password entry screen. Since you don’t remember it, press on the entry Forgot password? that you find below and select the method of verifying your identity (and therefore recovery) defaults to your Microsoft account.
Depending on the means in your possession and the information that you have previously associated with your Hotmail account, you must choose a method for verifying your identity: you can request to receive a verification code at the alternative email address or secondary (Send email to [indirizzo e-mail]), via text message to your phone (SMS to [numero di telefono]) or you can use an authenticator app (Use my authenticator app).
You will only be presented with one of the above methods, which you have set up on your Microsoft account. In the event that you are presented with the option to receive an email for identity verification, you must enter the entire email address of your secondary account associated with your Microsoft account in the box below.
If, on the other hand, the option relating to receiving an SMS is shown, you must type the last 4 digits of the phone number associated with the Microsoft account in the appropriate box. In both cases listed above, after typing what is required in the appropriate text box, press the key Get the codeto receive an email or text message (depending on the method chosen) with the verification code.
If you want to use thehotmail password recovery appyou have to rely on Microsoft Authenticator (Play Store/alternative stores and iOS/iPadOS). However, this app must first be configured in your Microsoft account, which I told you about in detail in my guide on how to activate 2FA. Alternatively, you can also use other 2FA apps, such as Google Authenticatorwhich I told you about in the tutorial that I just linked to you.
If the option shown on the screen doesn’t suit you for any reason (for example, you don’t have access to your email or the device where you can receive a verification SMS), press on the items Please use a different verification option and then Show more verification methodsto see the list of all the identity verification settings set up on your Microsoft account.
After recovering the identity verification codetype it in the appropriate text box on the screen and press the button After you, to move to the next Microsoft account password change screen. So what you have to do is type the New Password (in both text boxes) that you want to associate with your Hotmail address (set a secure password, please). Finally, press the confirmation button below to validate the password change.
I must warn you that unfortunately it is not possible in any way recover hotmail password with secret question. Therefore, carefully follow the procedures I have described above to be able to locate or reset the password of your Microsoft account.
If none of the identity verification methods that I have illustrated in the previous paragraphs fails, because perhaps you no longer have any access to the configured services or devices, press on the item I don’t have any of this info and, if you have a recovery codeenter it in the appropriate text field that is shown on the screen, then pressing the button Use recovery code located at the bottom, so you can reset your password.

How to recover stolen hotmail password
If your account has been compromised and you can no longer log in, you can simply follow the instructions I gave you in the previous chapter, so that you can verify your identity and reset your Hotmail account password. I remind you that you can make up to two attempts a day.
If, unfortunately, you no longer have access to the identity verification methods that you had configured on your Microsoft account, the situation becomes very complex to manage.
Following the instructions I gave you in the previous chapter, when you reach the recovery code entry screen, press the key No to reach the Hotmail password recovery form.
Through this form, after entering all the required information, you will be contacted via email by the Microsoft support team. If the identity verification is successful, you will receive a link in the e-mail address you provided in the form to reset the password of your Hotmail account.
How to change hotmail password
By carrying out the procedure indicated in the previous chapter, the access key with which to access your Microsoft account will obviously be changed. Therefore, if after gaining access to your account, you want to change your password again, you can do so by following the procedures that I indicate in the following lines.
Connect to the official website that allows you to manage Microsoft accounts by clicking here and pressing the button Log in. Then log in with your Hotmail account credentials using the appropriate on-screen form (you may be asked to verify your identity).
On the next screen, click on the menu item Safety that you can see above, then press the button Changing your personal password. Once this is done, you just have to change the access key: then use the fields Current password, New Password And Confirm Password and click the button Saveto confirm the changes made.
For the future, to avoid wasting precious time trying to recover your Hotmail account password, I suggest you use one of the recovery resources that I have indicated in my tutorial dedicated to password programs (or you could rely on password managers browsers, even if they are less advisable). Using these tools you will be able to manage and keep your password without problems, to access your Hotmail account but not only. If I were you I’d give them at least a look!
